A FATHER, TEACHER,

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Bishop Larry L. Jefferson, Sr. Over 40 years of ordained service and preaching

I was born deep in the heart of East Dallas, TX; the seventh son in a family of 13. As the city around me groaned and travailed in pain from the burden borne by growing racial tension, crime, and poverty, a deeper war raged within me.  Forced to live on my own at the age of twelve, I spent my early years struggling and hustling to survive; by whatever means necessary.

The streets became my home and the sinners that roamed them, my family. I fought and robbed and drank as a lifestyle. It wasn’t until I was arrested at nineteen that I decided this life was not the right path for me.   Set free due to a technicality, I was convinced God heard my prayer and I was determined to make good on this second chance. From that day I dedicated my life to the Almighty and devoted the rest of my days to proclaiming His Gospel and leading others to salvation.

I got married the year after and the following year my family and I joined Lighthouse Church of God in Christ. I grew and learned under the mentorship of the Honorable Supt. Edward Calloway, Sr. As if I was alive for the first time, I was filled with a radical zeal for not just God’s Word, but for the life-changing power it wielded over saints and sinners alike.

My passion was for the sinners outside the church. I began the LCG Club (Life Change Gang), and ministered to the community. My sons (four at this time) and I knocked on doors early in the morning witnessing to neighbors. I preached on street corners, in empty parking lots, and even traveled from Detroit to Chicago to California proclaiming the Word of God.

In 1980, I was offered the opportunity to take over as Pastor of Faith Memorial Church, a local Church of God in Christ. I accepted the position, and the Holy Spirit began to move powerfully in our Church. As the congregation grew, so did my family. A couple years into the Ministry my last child was born; a daughter at last.

In 2005, Thirty years and three buildings later, I have been blessed to witness many miracles, countless led to salvation, and numerous healings, including cases of cancer and HIV. During my leadership, we have helped businesses and entrepreneurs get started and grow. We have also birthed organizations that serve the community meeting the needs of women, children, and the needy.

In 2013, I passed the torch of Pastorial Ministry to my son, and I now reside as Senior Bishop over Kingdom W.A.R. Covenant of Churches. For years, our church was a beacon of light to the community. It is the mission of my ministry to continue bringing light and hope to the darkest corners and forgotten hearts of our city.  In 2017, I started the Millennial School of Prophets to train those that will come after me to carry Christianity forward and fight the good fight.
